I am competing in Ironman New Zealand to raise money for a new multi-sport turf at Waiheke High School, Auckland.
Waiheke Island, Auckland
I am currently following a six-month programme ready to compete in Ironman New Zealand in Taupō on March 2nd 2024. This will be my first ever Ironman. It involves a 3.9km swim in Lake Taupō, a 180km bike ride and a 42km marathon distance run. I have only just come back from an injury that forced me to rest up for 18 months so this will be a huge challenge for me! Training builds up to 20 hours per week at its peak so there are plenty of 4 am starts ahead.
I am a Deputy Principal at Waiheke High School and ex-Head of PE, Health and Sport. All donations raised will go to help fund our new multi-sport turf at the school. Waiheke Island does not currently have a sports turf so this facility will be incredibly valuable for ākonga at our school as well as the local community.
Waiheke High School is situated on Waiheke Island and offers education for students from years 7 to 13. The school serves a diverse and close-knit community. The environment provides students with locally based learning opportunities.
We are raising money to replace the surface of the current dilapidated tennis courts for use by the school and community. A new turf will provide a multi-sport facility that will be available for community use after school, summer evenings, and weekends.
One week to go 22 February 2024
I'm finally heading into taper week with over 300 hours of training on the clock. Thanks for all of the donations!
