THE WRCT ANNUAL WINTER APPEAL 2021

$475 of $100,000 goal
Given by 6 generous donors in 5 weeks

One of the most exciting environmental projects in West Auckland. You are invited to contribute to our Annual Winter Appeal.

Auckland

The Rosebank Peninsula Coastal Restoration Project.

Next to Auckland’s busy North Western motorway and Rosebank Business District there lies a wildlife hot spot. The Whau River Catchment Trust has launched its first Annual Winter Appeal. Together we can help restore this important coastal habitat.

Every day thousands of Auckland commuters pass by Rosebank Peninsula and Whau River while driving along the northwestern motorway little knowing that it is an important biodiversity hot spot.

Ara Patiki Bay and Motu Manawa Marine Reserve are one of the best examples of mangrove and salt marsh habitat in the Waitemata Harbour. Once famous for flounder today it is a haven for juvenile fish and other native wildlife. It is a rich feeding ground for important native and migratory birds.

Local businesses are invited to contribute to our Annual Winter Appeal.

As a business, you can help reduce pollution. You can adopt an area of coastline to help restore nature. You can spread the word about this Annual Winter Appeal.

You can have your business name connected to one of the most exciting environmental projects in West Auckland.

About us

The Whau River Catchment Trust and it's affiliated volunteer group, Friends of the Whau, has been operating for 23 years in total and have gained the respect and support of the community, Auckland Council and other environmental groups.

Use of funds

Funding will be used to support the coastal ecological restoration of Rosebank Peninsula and for the greater Whau River catchment, so our natural areas can be a refuge for many with free and open access to green space to explore and find calm.
