Friends of the Topp Twins are raising funds to support Lynda and Jools treatment and living costs as they embark on a double cancer journey
Hawke's Bay
Friends of the Topp Twins wish to raise funds to support Lynda and Jools on their cancer journey and help with non-publicly funded treatments (such as acupuncture and vitamins), transport and general living costs so they can focus on their treatment without financial stress.
Jools was diagnosed with breast cancer 16 years ago and the chemo treatment she underwent succeeded in securing her a long remission, however she recently discovered that her cancer has metastasised. She is now undergoing radiation therapy.
In December 2021, Lynda was diagnosed with Grade 3 invasive breast cancer and has undergone surgery for a double mastectomy. She is currently undergoing six months of intensive chemotherapy.
This is a devastating double blow made more challenging on the back of two years of cancelled gigs due to Covid -19. Like all artists, the Topp Twins’ career disappeared overnight and this sudden loss of income is now coupled with a serious cancer diagnosis for both of them.
2022 was to be a celebration of 40 years of the Topp Twins. They were looking forward to taking a new national show on the road and many special events were planned but now sadly are indefinitely on hold.
This is an opportunity for friends and fans to show their support in a practical way. These two amazing women have been at the forefront of many worthwhile causes and given generously of their time and money to a range of charities. They now need our help. Please support us supporting them.
I am a long time friend of both Jools and Lynda Topp.
Treatment expenses (such as acupuncture and vitamins) and general living costs as required to help provide the best care for Lynda and Jools.
Thank you Thank you Thank you 23 May 2022
Hello to all of you on this amazing Give A Little Page,
We are so thankful for your tremendous support during this difficult time and the financial and emotional response has been overwhelming and heartfelt. Such a boost to our spirits to read through so many comments and memories of our years together.
We finally got the chance to reunite for our birthday and just being together was medicine that no doctor can prescribe.
A very special group, the Kiwi Quilters group gave us an amazing birthday gift- two of the most beautiful and colourful quilts you’ve ever seen! 22 women from around NZ each made a split heart block then they all got sewn together to become one heart. Kind of like a twin quilt! “The rainbow colours were chosen because of your work with Gay Rights”
We thank the Kiwi Quliters and honestly people have cheered us up no end with their outpouring of love and kindness.
At the moment, there’s still a few people fundraising with different events and challenges (check out the mighty mullet chop) so we will keep the give a little page open till the 30th of July for funds still being raised.
This has been one of the most sad but amazing times in our long career - we love you New Zealand and our international fans and friends - to the moon and back again 💖♥️❤️💕💖♥️❤️
