At Upper Hutt School, every learner deserves a positive future
Upper Hutt, Wellington
The kaupapa around the Upper Hutt School Givealittle page is to provide a platform for whanau to donate towards Kia eke te Maunga.
Kia eke te Maunga means to “Climb the Mountain”. Our whole school walks or runs up Kingsley Heights and back every year. Every student sets and completes an appropriate wero (challenge). This builds their resilience and determination. The overall distance is approximately 4.5 kilometres. The class with the most donations wins a shared lunch
This event has a long and treasured history at Upper Hutt School.
Kia kaha tamariki ma!
At Upper Hutt School, every learner deserves a positive future.
We will be spending the money on continuing to support the many forms of Education Outside the Classroom that enrich the lives of our tamariki.
The new look for Kia eke te maunga 15 October 2026
Kia eke te maunga will now take place on Tuesday 10 November (PPT Thursday 12 November). Due to safety regualtions we had to postpone the event and it will now take place at Maidstone Park, using the rugby fields, turf area and the Lower Loop bush track. All students will first walk to the park and assemble for races. Kia Eke Loop Track runners will leave school later, around 10.20am.
This event has two goals: developing fitness and resilience, and raising money. This year, the money raised will go towards our outside spaces.
