Raise money to donate to KidsCan to make a difference for Kiwi kids
Wellington
- At the FFC Racing Team we know there are kids in our community that are not getting a fair crack at the basics in life.
Since riding bikes is what we love to do we are going to ride from Christchurch to Queenstown in order to raise money for Kiwi Kids who will benefit from our support.
To get a direct result for disadvantaged Kiwi Kids every dollar raised we will be donating to KidsCan.
As of today KidsCan supports over 18,000 hungry children a week with food insecurity. Their tangible programmes, Food for Kids, Shoes for Kids, Raincoats for Kids and Health for Kids concentrate on giving the basics directly to children in need in partnership with the schools they attend.
We will be riding 650 Km including 7,000 metres vertical climbing - a little bit of pain for us equals a great outcome for Kiwi kids in need.
I am a member of the FFC racing team - FFC racing team is committed to raising as much money as possible to directly benefit Kiwi Kids.
Our journey will enable Kids through the KidsCan charity to go to school and have the basics provided allowing them to be a kid and learn and become an even greater Kiwi Kid.
FFC Charity Ride Update 20 March 2016
Hi All,
Thank you for your support of this fantastic charity and epic ride. Day one was a really long ride 177km from Chch to Geraldine. Despite the forecast we had no rain and meaty tailwinds which made for a real adventure going through the Rakia gorge and stunning scenery. I went a bit out of the comfort zone and was pretty knackered after day one, nothing some food a good sleep couldn't fix. We have an amazing support team helping out the 34 riders each day and its a real team tour.
We have raised collectively around $130k so far and if can get above $150K it means we get another school into the kids can programme.
We have just finished day two in Tekapo. Some really full on head winds welcomed us to Tekapo which made the final hour very tough. Earlier in the day was brilliant going through Fairlie in sunny warm conditions. Getting a mixed bag weather wise but everyone is helping each other out and tired bodies but loving the challenge. I hope this finds you all well and we head to Omarama tomorrow. All the best. Tim
