Support PfCA to develop workshops/resources to talk with your kids (and beyond!) about climate change. ALL DONATIONS DOUBLED!
Nationwide
Parents for Climate Aotearoa believes in the power of community-led solutions for local climate change impacts. We want to see all children thrive through generations working together to build strong relationships and local led solutions.
Right now, many of us are struggling to know how to talk with our kids about climate change and we are feeling anxious and worried about raising our children in a rapidly changing climate. We are seeing the impacts of climate change on a daily basis at home in Aotearoa and around the world. Increased flooding, droughts, wildfires, food shortages, land loss and more. This is causing rapidly rising anxiety and poor mental health in our young people and ourselves as caregivers.
That’s the bad news. The good news is you are not alone and together we can do something about it.
The best thing we can do is talk about climate change with our children, in a way that supports their mental wellbeing (and ours!). We want to support you through our in person and online workshops to develop the skills and ability to both talk with and listen to your children about climate change and their anxieties around this. We provide ongoing support so we can help each other raise emotionally resilient children in these rapidly changing times.
Talking about shared problems is powerful. We need your support to raise $10,000 to develop our How to Talk Climate programme so we can equip parents with the skills to talk with their children about climate change.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 5 October 2022
Kia ora wonderful supporters,
Thank you so much for donating and sharing over the past two weeks. With your help we are now able to begin development of our workshops, resources and materials to support people to talk about climate change with their children, their friends, whānau and beyond.
To quote one of our favourite climate scientists and brilliant communicator, Katharine Hayhoe - "The most important thing you can do to fight climate change is to talk about it."
Because talking about our shared problems is powerful and leads to the change we need.
Thank you again and we look forward to keeping you updated with our progress.
Thank you my love
