Fundraising for Gumboot Friday, for a future free of mental health illness stigma, and a culture where we are all in this together.
Nationwide
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
Gumboot Friday is a charity funding counselling sessions for NZ Youth. 100% of these charities’ funds go straight to those in need, ensuring they get the help and support they urgently require.
The Brave Project is a fundraising campaign with 100% of funds going to Gumboot Friday.
In 2020, in NZ, 175 young people died by suicide with another 3500 attempting to. Gumboot Friday and this fundraiser aim to change that.
This cause is one I find deeply personal. I have had my struggles with depression and anxiety. Counselling truly changed my life. I know just life-changing Gumboot Friday is for the youth.
You have the ability to be part of this change. Both in how we think about depression, anxiety, and counselling. And by donating to a charity that is delivering to those who need it most.
This project is about more than just sending people to counselling. It’s about sharing our battles, our struggles, our stories of resilience. It is letting those who are struggling know they aren’t alone; we are all in this together. It’s letting down our walls, and blowing the stigma of mental illness out of sight.
Gumboot Friday is a charity with the purpose of reducing youth mental health issues and suicides, with a here and now solution. 100% of the funds raised in this campaign go to the Gumboot Friday Charity, which provides 100% of their funds to counselling for young people (5-24 years) by registered mental health practitioners.
The Brave Project is taking my journey from rock bottom to self-belief and authenticity. On the 21st of July, I ran a workshop 'Finding Confidence in yourself'. On the 28th of July, I ran a workshop 'Finding confidence in your voice'. The final event was held on the 4th August. This was titled 'Equestrian Mindset Workshop - My journey till now'.
The Brave Project Workshops – What are they about?
The Brave Project is about inspiring you to find confidence in yourself and your voice. We at TBP believe that everyone has the ability to have a positive influence on the world. You have great ideas, and solutions that have the ability to change other peoples lives.
Finding Confidence in yourself is about taking my journey (from invisible to invincible) and being that person I needed when I was younger. I can't turn back the clock and change those days of struggle. I can't take those days back, but I can turn it into something that can positively change others. It covers the topics of; discovering your purpose, your drive, your reason why, identify your authentic self, (what separates you from the crowd), discover what are your roadblocks to authenticity, your dreams, and your purpose and brainstorming a path to this purpose.
Finding confidence in your voice is about unlocking your ability to speak up and stand out. This topic examines skills, techniques, tips and tricks to speak with clarity and confidence. It aims to give you the ability to take your authentic identity and your passion and purpose, and turn those dreams into reality. Public speaking is a fear amongst up to 1/3 of us. This topic is about giving you the skills, and the practise to speak to be heard, to be understood.
The third workshop Equestrian Mindset Workshop is about; understanding and overcoming fear - 4 steps to making fear your friend, being vulnerable - the power of vulnerability, what it means to be vulnerable, owning your own Olympics - what is your own Olympics, setting purposeful goals - Long-term short term, successful term, the importance of fun - why do we ride, overcoming the itty bitty committee - turning the voices in your head into your personal cheerleaders. The aim is to take my journey of overcoming anxiety and how I have taken back the reins of my own dreams.

A bit about me.
I am a 23-year-old eventer. I have spent my whole life around horses. Three years ago I had a run of concussions whilst riding. Three years ago I had my first anxiety attack whilst riding. This is my journey to getting back in the saddle and overcoming those fears.
I'm not fixed. I'm not this brave, fearless rider. But I have spent the last three years developing strategies and techniques to help myself. Strategies to understand where these emotions were coming from, and techniques to start to turn them around.
I don't promise to fix you. I don't promise to change your perspective. What I do hope is that sharing my story, and my journey will help you to understand yours. So you can find your way through your emotions, and you can be the best version of yourself.
