Stress no matter how big or small is no fun at all.
In New Zealand a lot of us tend to have a she’ll be right attitude. Struggling with mental health has a severe stigma, yet 1 in 6 adults suffer from a mental health issue. It is a common experience dressed up as a rare one.
As a student I can confidently say I experience stress on the daily. Too often it can be easy to get caught up in stress and negative feelings.
Stress alone can be very overwhelming yet it can also be found to play a part in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety.
Although it can’t solve everything, walking and physical exercise is a common way to boost your mood. Aside from the physical benefits, walking and exercise releases endorphins which help relieve pain, reduce stress and improve your sense of well-being. Getting outside, breathing the air, and feeling your body move is an easy and natural way that may help to distress.
It is my goal to inspire others to get outdoors and discover the benefits of walking while raising funds for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
By supporting this campaign, you are donating to a charity that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & well-being.

Completed my walks!! 24 September 2022
Kia ora!! I know it’s late, but better late than never right…?
I have finally completed all my walks! As you can tell I found it hard to get motivated to get outdoors and go for a walk however, after each walk I felt so refreshed an re-energised.
Even though it can be a struggle to find the motivation to get up and get outdoors I highly encourage you to take some time out of your day, whether it be by yourself or with friends and whānau to go for a walk. Walking is such an easy and relaxing way to clear your mind. Getting out of your current environment and taking in the outdoors may help to release stress and ease your mind.
From personal experience I can say that walking and getting some fresh air has really helped me. I work and live in the same place which can be overwhelming at times. This week I pushed myself to go for at least a 30 minute walk each day and I have really benefited from it. This is something I want to continue to do daily.
My favourite walk so far has to be around the Hamilton Lake. I encourage you to get your walking shoes on and check out local walks near you 🫶🏽
