CanTeen, a national peer support network created so that no young person has to go through a cancer experience alone.
Nothing is scarier than hearing the word ‘cancer. Young people don’t expect to come face to face with cancer, but they do. If you’re a young person already dealing with what life is throwing at you, cancer – your own or that of a family member – is an unexpected curve ball. At CanTeen we get it. We are solely focused on young people 13-24, providing the support needed to come to grips with the emotional and practical toll of cancer in adolescence.
Cancer is different in a young person’s world. When cancer derails a young life, CanTeen develops a person’s resilience and confidence to cope with cancer in their lives. By connecting young people with others who have faced the same challenges, and providing expert one-to-one support, CanTeen arms them with skills to get their life back on track in a time filled with uncertainty.
For 30 years CanTeen has stood alongside thousands of young people when cancer derails their lives. CanTeen’s aim throughout it has been to ensure young people get the help they need to not only get through cancer, but to get on with life afterward.
Our services are provided free of charge ensure they are accessible to every young person living with cancer, wherever they are. But for every young person CanTeen supports, another faces cancer alone. CanTeen receives no direct government funding and is solely reliant on our own fundraising efforts and the generosity of people like you.
