Cats' Protection League Canterbury

Cats' Protection League Canterbury

We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome stray and surrendered cats and kittens and run a very successful subsidised desexing programme.

We provide advice, subsidised desexing of cats via our Feline Fix desexing programme, assistance with urgent veterinary treatment to low income people and a lost and found service.

We take in stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens, and vet check, rehabilitate and rehome them to good homes.

We have been assisting the people and cats of Canterbury for over 50 years. People prefer to utilise our services as we do not euthanase unless it is recommended by a veterinarian and every other option has been explored.

We try to match our cats to the person/situation to ensure the best possible home for them and the best possible cat for the owner.

More about us

We take in unwanted cats & kittens, provide them with the necessary veterinary treatment and then rehome them where we can. We also help with desexing, urgent veterinary treatment, food in emergency situations & provide a lost and found service.

20,000 Cats Desexed Under the Feline Fix  23 June 2020

Spaying and neutering is a large and important part of our organisation so ten years ago we embarked on a plan to desex cats in Canterbury by creating a subsidised desexing programme.

The programme, which we named “The Feline Fix”, commenced on 1 July 2010 and last month we achieved 20,000 cats desexed under it. This week we have personally thanked the vets who are currently working with us and also wish to acknowledge a number of other vets have also contributed during this time. Without all of them, this achievement would not be possible so thank you to all current and past vets whose partnership with us has made such a difference to the cat population and health in Canterbury.

If you need assistance with desexing your cat, please contact us via our website;
