Jumla lies in the Karnali zone Nepal's most remote and impoverished region. The school was established to protect the language and culture of the Mugumpa people. They are Tibetan and have lived at the foot of the Himalayas in Nepal for centuries. The school also educates Dalit (untouchable caste) children from nearby villages.
The Kailash Bodhi School was established in 2005 to preserve the language and culture of the Tibetan (Mugumpa) people an indigenous population who have lived for centuries at the foot of the Himalayas in Nepal. In 2005 KBS Jumla opened its doors to twenty-five children. Today there are more than six hundred and fifty children attending the school. The In Time Trust provides classrooms, teachers, text books, stationery and school uniforms so these children can receive the education they need to break the cycle of poverty that exists there.
