The MATES matter NZ Charitable Trust has been set up to bring suicide awareness and intervention training to the Waikato community.

In response to the high suicide statistics for men and rangatahi in New Zealand MATES MATTERS NZ has been set up to provide mental wellness and suicide prevention programmes and resources in the Waikato region to increase more help options and enable more people to have life-supporting conversations.

The heart of Mates Matters NZ is to provide a suicide prevention approach that is specific to the needs of workplaces and communities within the Waikato region.

Vision –

Life-affirming communities connecting people.

Purpose –

Providing resources and profile-raising activities around mental wellness support for everyone in Waikato

Values –

Aroha (belonging, empathy, compassion), Manaakitanga and Integrity
