Rodney Animal Rescue is a registered charity formed in 2020. Our charity was formed as our chairperson Alice Hayward was rescuing privately for many years.
Alice is a veterinary nurse and uses her skills to help animals in need
We have had a range of animals come through our doors, from very sick piglets, a premature goat, a gorgeous calf that was blind and can now see, alpacas that need love and care, and many horses from young to old.
Our horses often come in a very emaciated state
Many come from situations where they have no faith or trust in humans but we are here to help them get healthy and restore trust for them to love humans again
Large animal rescue is hard work but very rewarding work.
We do try rehome every animal, but some maybe too old to rehome, so they go to our foster carers for much love and attention for as long as they can
Large animals are very financially consuming, so every little bit helps, to help us look after them and get them ready for their forever home or supporting our golden oldies in their foster homes 🥰
More about us
We rescue and rehabilitate animals in the greater Rodney region, we mainly only rescue large animals in need. We also are here to help owners in need by providing education with nutrition and care when needed

Buddy 20 December 2021
Buddy was surrendered to the rescue in early September this year
He had a fracture to the nose after being in an incident with his previous owner
We took him to the vet specialists to ensure that his fracture was healing and not hurting
Thankfully the fracture was healing well and was not the cause of his weight loss
He is such a super sweet natured boy, and he is still a stallion which he will need his surgery shortly and a dental
Today, 14 weeks on, this is Buddy ❤
