Creating awesome spaces and opportunities for meaningful social connection to improve mental health and prevent suicide.
Nationwide
Spark That Chat is a registered charity with a mission to make young adult suicide a thing of the past in Aotearoa New Zealand. After founder Jack Jensen, a Hawke’s Bay local, lost mates to suicide, he was driven to start a social enterprise movement that encourages people not only to survive, but to thrive, creating opportunities to allow people’s souls to shine.
Our vision is for Spark That Chat to be creating opportunities and spaces that support open, honest conversations about mental health, fostering strength through connection and developing resilience among individuals in the community. Music, sport, family events, school talks, road trips to visit students all over the country …. all these have featured in Spark That Chat activities so far, enabling people to share experiences and stories to promote mental wellbeing.
“The bottom of the cliff is too late. Spark That Chat is about that space well before the edge, where people feel safe and can connect around the awesome things in their lives.”
Spark That Chat's mission is to prevent young person suicide in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our "well before the cliff" approach to mental health creates extraordinary spaces to encourage social connection and authentic sharing of experiences - and love living!
