We deliver results and EVERY CENT we raise goes directly to the projects we are working on!

The Taranaki Health Foundation is a charitable Trust that works in partnership with the Taranaki DHB to raise funds for enhanced healthcare in our region.

In the last two years we have successfully completed the 3.6 million dollar WE HEART TARANAKI campaign, gifted a Mobility Garden at Base Hospital and are working on technology needs at Hawera Hospital. Since 2013, we have raised over 9 million dollars to support the best possible healthcare in Taranaki.

We now turn our focus to a new project that we ask you to support today: From Hardship to Hope Kids Health Fund.

What is the fund about?

When kids and their families are faced with serious illness or medical treatment over a period of time, they often need additional support to see them through their journey. Currently there is no ‘internal’ mechanism that can meet the urgent needs of families – whether it be aid to cover travel, accommodation, prescriptions, food or other requirements deemed appropriate.

In response to this need we have collaborated to develop a new FUND to ‘strengthen Taranaki families throughout their children’s medical journeys, ensuring they are better placed to cope and help their children heal.’

The fund is being implemented to aid patients and families who are experiencing financial hardship because of acute medical journeys they face. There is a genuine need to support Taranaki families who for no fault of their own find themselves under enormous pressure and stress because their kids are seriously ill. Examples of the additional stress families find themselves under includes: experiencing little or no contingency funds if an acute illness occurs, rural families who need help with travel costs to and from hospitals, increased childcare costs (for siblings), parents having to take leave without pay, patients who require out of town care (especially mothers requiring antenatal hospitalisation) and many others.

The emergency fund will be overseen by a committee and provide flexibility and discretion for Social Workers to support families with small grants. Criteria will be applied and donors will be encouraged to give to the fund to make a significant difference for children and families who need it most.
