Wellington Womens Refuge

Wellington Womens Refuge

Wellington Women’s Refuge is a non-profit organisation providing support and advocacy to women and children affected by domestic violence.

Wellington

Wellington Women’s Refuge provides support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence; empowering them to make safe decisions for their future. We provide the option of a safe-house, and also support in the community. We operate a 24 hour crisis telephone line assisted by a roster of trained volunteers outside working hours. Domestic violence training provided to organisations on request.

Women’s Refuge is a non for profit organisation. We receive around 1/2 or our funding from the government to provide our services the rest we seek though applying for grants and through donations from the public. The demand for our services has been steadily increasing. Each year we support over 300 women and their children.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
