A multi year project to fund the re-roofing and maintenance of key huts on the Dusky Track, a premier multi-day New Zealand tramping trip.
Southland
The 7 huts on the Dusky Track are now more than 50 years old and many now have developed maintenance issues that are in need of a substantial reinvestment to protect the huts for future recreational enjoyment. Some of these huts need to be re-roofed to rectify leaking issues on these buildings. The Backcountry Trust has started a multi year funding campaign working with volunteer groups to fund this major project but is in need of additional funds to help what will be one of its most costly single projects.
The Backcountry Trust is a non-profit registered charitable trust that funds volunteer work throughout New Zealand maintaining New Zealand's backcountry hut and track network.
Funds will be used for Materials and transport for re-roofing Loch Maree Hut and Spey Hut.
