Restoration of New Zealand's Backcountry Huts

$275 of $10,000 goal
Given by 9 generous donors in around 6 months

Restoration of two West Coast backcountry huts.

West Coast

Want to support the maintenance and restoration of New Zealand's Backcountry Hut network? The Backcountry Trust over the past four years has embarked on an extensive programme to renovate backcountry huts that have slipped off the maintenance cycle. We have a number of smaller huts coming up that need extensive work. Both Dunns Creek Hut in the Taipo Valley and Kiwi Flat Hut in the Waitaha Valley need to be extensively rebuilt.

About us

The Backcountry Trust is a non-profit registered charitable trust that funds volunteer work throughout New Zealand maintaining New Zealand's backcountry hut and track network.

Use of funds

Huts will be stripped right back to the frame and rebuilt replacing the rotten timber, plies and subframe.
