Renovation of Mid Wairoa Hut – Te Araroa Trail

Nelson / Tasman

Mid-Wairoa Hut in Richmond Forest Park is a solid, traditional S70 NZFS Hut that is in need of renovation to cope with increasing use on the Te Araroa Trail.

It was built over 50 years ago, unfortunately with the windows facing the hillside rather than the attractive clearing it sits in, and does not quite have the bunk space to cope with the use over summer.

The renovations will see a verandah added to the front, new windows added and the basic structure re-jigged to create a facility better suited to the use and environment.
