We freely redistribute fresh surplus food from Wellington's eateries directly to those in need of it. Everyone is welcome.
Wellington
We have been running for a total of 14 years, with 10 of those having been in the carpark of St Peters Church on Willis Street. Gathering around the rescuing and redistribution of food from across Wellington City. We offer a space of belonging for anyone and everyone, with those in our community spanning all walks of life from university students, to families facing financial hardship, to those who are homeless, and many others. We are a community that encourages generosity and growth in each other and utilize a variety of avenues to achieve this.
The Free Store redistributes quality surplus food from over 62 eateries in Pōneke (Wellington) to anyone. We are a community of people from all walks of life who gather around this surplus kai (food) and become friends & family.
This is our annual fundraiser which gives us a decent chunk of funding for a year of our practical, daily operation, and creating new opportunities such as more community meals, events, and retreats.
