Through art, former refugee children are painting bridges between their past and future. Be part of their colorful journey of belonging.
Hamilton, Waikato
Every child carries a world of stories within them. At ROC Kids' Art Jam, young artists who have made extraordinary journeys to New Zealand will share their stories through the universal language of color and creativity. These remarkable children, who once called places like Colombia, Congo, and Afghanistan home, now bring their unique perspectives to Hamilton's canvas.
Born from a 10-year-old's vision to welcome newcomers, this isn't just another art show. It's a celebration of brave new beginnings, where children from refugee backgrounds can express their hopes, dreams, and joy through art. Each painting and craft piece tells a story of resilience, adaptation, and the simple power of a smile in making a new place feel like home.
At St. Paul's Collegiate School, we'll create a space where art becomes a bridge between cultures. Through interactive art stations, these young artists will share their experiences, find new friendships, and add their unique colors to Hamilton's diverse community.
Your support will provide art supplies, create welcoming spaces, and ensure each young artist receives recognition for their contribution. More importantly, it will show these children that their stories matter and their creativity enriches our community.
Help us reach our goal of $1,500 to amplify these young creative minds through art. Because sometimes the most powerful stories are told not in words, but in colors, crafts, and smiles.
ROC Trust has become a strong pillar of support to refugees from 9 countries for 19 years. We encourage a culture of acceptance, love, and growth, so that former refugees can become self-sufficient and independent in Aotearoa New Zealand.
