Help us protect the native bush in Ōhinetahi Reserve
Christchurch, Canterbury
Ōhinetahi Reserve is a 150ha reserve near Governors Bay, with regenerating bush, spectacular views and native bird song. Ōhinetahi is owned and managed by the Summit Road Society, a grassroots conservation organisation dedicating to preserving and restoring the Port Hills.
Please help us to replace a damaged fence to ensure neighbouring stock do not access the reserve and wreck havoc on the native bush. The cost is $4300 - all donations gratefully accepted! Our native bush is precious - it creates habitat and ecological corridors for native birds and other fauna, reduces erosion and sediment run-off, restores mahinga kai, provides wellbeing benefits for the community and supports carbon sequestration.
The Summit Road Society (Inc.), formed in 1948, aims to further the vision of Harry Ell, by working to enhance, preserve and protect the nature, beauty and open character of the Port Hills for people to enjoy.
The money will be contribute to a replacement fence between Ōhinetahi and a neighbouring property to ensure stock do not access the bush.
