A sad eviction -these cats have lost their much-loved home

After many years living peacefully on a little piece of waste land in the city, fed and cared for, these cats were given notice to be gone.

Auckland

These 12 dear old cats , who had all been de-sexed many years ago, lived peacefully together among the sheltering toi tois on a little piece of waste land behind some buildings in the city.

They were provided with shelter and fed daily by a group of devoted friends and were a happy little family group. However suddenly their little piece of waste land had a value for development and their carers were told they had to be gone in a week. They weren't tame enough to be adopted as pets but thank goodness there was somewhere for them to all go together as a group.

The NZ Cat Foundation provides a sanctuary for cats like these, not tame enough for pets but still deserving of a peaceful life. They are vulnerable unhomeables but on a rural property north of Auckland they can have the retirement they deserve. The sanctuary is bursting at the seams but mercifully agreed to take these poor old refugees.

It costs a lot to run this vital service and these 12 extra residents have put a great strain on the budget. If you could help towards providing the food and health care for these cats it would be wonderful. The sanctuary relies on donations to provide long-term support for cats who are outcasts and unhomeables. As well as rescuing the Quay St cats another resident is Spike, a stray who was found with a broken jar around his neck, and Monty, a white cat who was living rough and has been unclaimed in spite of wearing a collar. He has had to have expensive surgery on his ears due to sun damage from his time living in the wild causing skin cancer.

Please help the NZ Cat provide a home for these cats who had nowhere else to go. It is a registered charity and your contribution is tax deductible.
