Darling Sooty is a 14 year old diabetic boy who lives at our cat sanctuary in Huapai. We couldn't find him on Sunday 27 November and after about 4 hours we found him caught under the cover of a car with serious hypothermia. We immediately began warming him up with the hair dryer and on a heat pad and now have him at the emergency vet clinic in Carrington Road! Hoping and praying this little guy will make it. Vet costs for the first night alone were $3,400!! Please help us to “ Help the Helpless” cats at The NZ Cat Foundation!
Monday morning update: Sooty has made some good improvements and a lot of work has been done with temperature only 1 degree less than normal, potassium levels improving, glucose still really low so being administered some. Neurologically still compromised but now aware. Vet is concerned Re how much mobility etc he will get. So he’s not out of the woods yet unfortunately.
Sunday night update:
Update on darling Sooty! He’s in a critical state however the great thing is his bloods are generally are good, but so very cold with low potassium, blood glucose low, and heart acting up. He’s got his best chance with VSA in Carrington Road. Pray for our little man!
