Fundraising for From Kiwis to Kyiv: Supporting Ukraine with Humanitarian Aid

Nationwide

Run#2 is 21km and will take place in Mount Maunganui on 26th August.

All funds raised will go towards the shipping costs of a 40-foot humanitarian aid container.

Over the last few months generous kiwis (companies and individuals) have donated medicines, warm clothes, blankets and toys. We now need your help to send these goods to those in need.

UANZ have connections with local organisation and can ensure the aid will get to where it is needed most. They have previously successfully shipped one 20-foot container to Kharkiv, one of the worst affected cities in Ukraine.

See their page for more info below.

About:

I am a Ukrainian kiwi, and have family in Ukraine and Russia. Russia’s sudden unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine has personally affected me on a level where basic tasks such as eating, sleeping and continuing work became difficult. I recently started running again which has been incredibly good for my mental health. During my last run I had a thought, what if I wasn’t running just for me, what if I was running for Ukraine? I signed up for a half marathon. A few others joined. Run for Ukraine was born.

Update from Ukraine  19 November 2023

The second container of humanitarian aid that we packed in July has made it's way to Ukraine!

It arrived to Kyiv in October and we have had numerous updates in the last few months that we wanted to share with you. Medicine, clothing, blankets and toys have been distributed amongst numerous organisations and then delivered to Ukrainians. Here are some photos of where they have ended up. This would not have been possible without your generous donations and we want to thank you on behalf of all Ukrainians.

UANZ is now fundraising for a third container, which will contain vital medical equipment, including hundreds of mobility chairs generously donated to us. Your donation will cover the shipping costs to transport these life-changing mobility chairs from New Zealand to Ukraine, and other logistic expenses. If you would like contribute please visit their page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-wounded-ukrainians-to-live-their-lives.
