Using an innovative and proven combination of creative arts initiatives, one-on-one mentoring and well-being programmes, Ngā Rangatahi Toa is a youth development organisation that inspires young people to re-engage with opportunities in education and employment.
We have high expectations of our young people, and we want to see them achieve their dreams. Ngā Rangatahi Toa is an organisation that offers unique creative youth development programmes that encourage connection to self, whānau and friends, community and society – and help our rangatahi see and achieve their potential.
When these deep connections are formed, rangatahi have the space in which to dream big. We encourage this in one-on-one mentoring, wellness programmes grounded in Te Ao Māori, in regular wānanga held throughout the year, and in Manawa Ora, our annual drama production at an Auckland theatre that our rangatahi devise themselves (with the help of some high-profile mentors) as a showcase for their skills.
Based in Auckland and working closely with communities in Manukau, Ngā Rangatahi Toa walks with rangatahi in a journey to explore higher learning and work placement opportunities. We believe every child in Aotearoa deserves the opportunity to achieve their potential, no matter what their situation.
The success of our work has been proven many times over since we were founded in 2009, but we need your help. We are a small team with big ambitions for our rangatahi. Every donation we receive will help us expand our rigorous programmes and allow more rangatahi to benefit from them. This means they’ll lay strong foundations on which to build happy and fulfilling lives.
Thank you for considering Ngā Rangatahi Toa for your donation. We promise you your money will help change lives.
Ngā Rangatahi Toa is a wāhine Māori-led, not-for-profit that engages with vulnerable Māori and Pasifika rangatahi from low socio-economic areas of Tāmaki Makaurau. Our mission revolves around building protective factors, resilience, and fostering well-being practices within these communities.
We guide these rangatahi through a portfolio of projects that combine creative exploration with youth development strategies, housed within the indigenous framework of Te Ao Māori (The world of Māori).
Our strength based and solution focused programs, scaffolds rangatahi through a process of rangatiratanga (leadership empowerment), kotahitanga (connected - togetherness) and mauri (life force - wellbeing) to support our rangatahi to become thriving, active members of their whānau and their communities.
