50 bikes in 50 days

$1,115 of $5,000 goal
Given by 20 generous donors in 5 weeks

EkeRua wants to give 50 families something to smile about this summer - a free bike with helmet, lock and lights!

Newtown, Wellington

We've set ourselves a challenge - We want to get 50 free bikes out to 50 kids before Christmas!

Help us get free bikes to 50 families this summer.

EkeRua ReBicycle is aiming to fix 50 (extra) bikes to give away in the coming weeks before Christmas. We need your help to cover the cost of providing helmets, locks and lights and any new parts that our volunteers use to fix the bikes.

We're aiming to raise $5000 in 2 months.

A donation of $100 will cover everything to go out with a refurbished bike, $35 gets someone a new helmet, $25 gets a lock, $15 a set of lights. Any amount you can contribute will help towards getting free bikes into our community this Christmas. We'll even accept baking and pizza for our hardworking volunteers ;-)

If you want to support us on a longer term basis you can donate weekly or monthly via our main page www.givealittle.co.nz/org/rebicycle to keep the bikes flowing We'll update this page with the number of bikes we get out before Christmas.

Thanks from everyone at EkeRua!

About us

EkeRua ReBicycle is a community charity that is all about getting more people on bikes.

Every month, we receive dozens of bikes donated by generous Wellingtonians. Our volunteer mechanics fix them up and we carefully match them to people who need a bike.

Use of funds

Funds raised will go towards buying parts, accessories, such as helmets and locks, and upgrading/replacing worn tools if needed. Some extra hours may be required by our staff and fuel for our volunteers (it's hard work, but hot chips go a long way).

Busy week  30 October 2024

Thanks so much to all of you who have donated and shared so far! We've still got a long way to go so please keep sharing the link!!!

Tonight we were able to give out 6 bikes to people who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them. From very recent migrants (arrived yesterday!), a former refugee family and our new volunteer who lost his bike in the Loafers Lodge fire.

Having a bike means so much to every one of these people. You've made that happen!

So please keep sharing the link, get your friends on board. Your kindness is what keeps us motivated (and fully stocked with parts and accessories!).
