Crowdfunding for our new bike workshop in Newtown.
Wellington
After 6 years collecting, repairing and rehoming bike for people in the Wellington region, we are finally setting up our own workshop!
We have a great location on Russell Terrace thanks to SWIS. Now we need to raise the funds to buy and fit out a second container for our workshop. It's a big job but we're up to the task!
Can you help us bring our community bike workshop to life?
ReBicycle has re-homed almost 2000 donated and repaired bikes in the Wellington region.
We also create opportunities for tamariki from all backgrounds to learn and challenge themselves on bikes.
We plan to purchase a 40 foot container, install doors, solar panels and a water tank. We'll have an outdoor covered workspace. And move our 20 foot storage container on site. Then make it all beautiful, warm and functional!
Sustainability Expo 5 June 2022
It's been a busy few weeks at EkeRua HQ. We've been busy getting quotes for containers and modifications and are close to ordering one!
We're also busy preparing for our e-bike projects and continuing our support for other bike hubs in the Hutt Valley and Porirua. Several of us even found time to join the cargobike ride on World Bicycle Day. See more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/534724581667418/permalink/540049934468216/
But we've also been busy getting ready for the Sustainability Expo at Parliament on Wednesday next week. Hosted by Grant Robertson's office, this expo will feature the who's who of ways minimisation in Wellington. We'll be trying our story of recycling old bikes and also providing advice on how to buy a good second hand bike (rather than a cheaply made new bike). Come see us on the day!
