Marilyn has an arthrodesis (fusing) of her left hock joint
Auckland
A pin is trying to wriggle free. This will be causing her pain, we need to remove it ASAP as it will eventually break through the skin, and given it is in the bone she could be susceptible to a bone infection.
The other thing which is worrying is the integrity of the bone involving her hock. It still could be a tumour in there as it is very unusual looking. Ideally a bone biopsy would be undertaken but this requires someone who is experienced in getting the right area to biopsy as biopsying bone is difficult. Another less invasive option is to wait another 2 months then re-xray and see what changes there are. If so it would be looking like a tumour.
Marilyn was found abandoned in a garage by a letting agent. The letting agent relinquished her into our care.
