Please support Animal Rescue Network New Zealand by sponsoring me to run the Dunedin Half Marathon - 21.1km.
Otago
Hi, I’m Audrey and a little over a year ago two new passions entered my life. One was running, I can still remember feeling so proud for running 1km on a treadmill when I thought I couldn’t. Since then I have competed in several 5km & 10km races and fun runs. I am about to do something I could never have dreamed of a year ago and run my first half marathon. The other great passion to enter my life was Animal Rescue Network New Zealand, I started as a volunteer and soon became a fosterer, a committee member and a trustee. This year I have fostered and tamed 24 cats and kittens. All have been saved from the horrible life of a stray or wild cat, they have been desexed, vaccinated, taught to trust humans again and for 21 of them found amazing new forever homes.
Please support me, in what is going to be one of the hardest accomplishments of my life, to help ARNNZ to continue our work rescuing and re-homing Dunedin’s stray and wild cat population. 100% of your donation will go directly to ARNNZ to cover vet costs, including desexing, vaccinations and emergency care. My aim is to raise a minimum of $211 - $1 for every 100m I run. With your support I will have the push and drive to reach that finish line.
Animal Rescue Network will receive 100% of the donations received for this run.
In January 2015 Cat Rescue Dunedin was formed by a small group of Dunedin residents who had seen the need for someone to begin helping the wild-born and abandoned cats and kittens living on the streets of Dunedin.
We became a charitable trust in June 2015, and since then we have desexed and rehomed hundreds of kittens which would otherwise have been left to breed uncontrollably. We were formerly known as the Animal Rescue Network NZ.
We are committed to reducing the wild-born and stray cat population through a combination of TNR and adoption.
Cats which are unable to be socialized to live with people can be humanely managed by a process known as trap, neuter, return (TNR). This means that the cats are desexed and returned to their environment where a caretaker feeds and monitors the cats to ensure their continued wellbeing. Desexing the cats ensures that their numbers don't increase, and over time the colony size reduces naturally.
Our long-term aim is to have our own shelter but until then all of our cats and kittens are fostered in private homes until they are ready for adoption.
Funds raised will be used by ARNNZ to cover vet costs, including desexing, vaccinations and emergency care.
