Please support our mission to take our local Kawhia kids on a 1 week outdoors holiday program to our wilderness camp in the Aotea harbour.
Waikato
Our kids are our future, and we believe strongly that teaching them more about sustainability, and respecting and appreciating our natural environment, makes them more confident and self sufficient individuals.
On this unique, outdoors holiday program the kids will have an opportunity to improve their skills in: kayaking, horse riding, hunting n gathering, building shelters, netting & spearing for flounder, compass reading, hiking, bush skills, cooking on fires, etc, etc...
The funds are needed for essential camping equipment, outdoor clothing, wet weather gear, hunting tools, compasses, food, fuel, and prizes...
My name is Bevan Taylor, born in the King Country region of Kawhia, and my mission is to share my passion and extensive local knowledge of the coastal region from Mokau to Raglan. Over the last few years I have been part of over 500 voluntary camping experiences, kayaking expeditions, hiking trips, and horse trekking for kids.
The purpose of our trust is to educate and train kids and rangatahi (youth), and in particular, ‘at risk’ rangatahi, in job skills, work ethics, self-esteem and self-confidence, by using the natural environment and culture, to develop respect, appreciation and pride for their hapori (community) and our natural environment, while using outdoor activities as metaphors to explore and improve attitudes, and live out their God-given potential through the challenge of adventure.
