Introducing Tokomaru Taylor

It's a proud moment for me as a dad and as a member of a charitable trust for "at risk" youth that has invested so much time and effort into kids lives to see them excel on the world stage...At the still tender age of 14 years old Tokomaru Taylor has continued to reflect all that positive input...

Not only has he participated in over a 1,000 outdoor activities, but has achieved an impressive amount on his martial arts journey...

At 10 years of age he won the Kyokushin-kai karate National championships ...

At 12 years of age he was selected into the elite Black Gloves Junior NZ Muaythai Team.

At 13 years of age he won a GOLD MEDAL at the IFMA World Muaythai Championships held in Bangkok in which 86 countries competed..

At 13 years of age he was nominated for the Junior Sportsman of the year at the Maori Sports Awards...Making him the youngest nominee ever...

At 13 years of age he won the WMC Junior NZ Light Bantamweight Title...

At 13 years of age he won the Upper North Island WKA Junior Bantamweight Title...

At 14 years of age Tokomaru won the IKBF Junior NZ Title after defeating IFMA silver medalist world junior muaythai champion "Manu Te pania"... (17th of March 2018)

At 14 years of age Toko won the WKA Central North Island title after defeating the international junior kickboxing champion "Zaane Walker" on the 21st of April 2018

That's WMC, WKA, and IKBF titles...

Currently Tokomaru is training fulltime at Tihipuke Muaythai gym in Hamilton and in July this year he will once again head off to Thailand to represent NZ at the IFMA World Junior Muaythai Championships, and also has a goal to compete in Spain for the World Junior Kickboxing championships...Our kids and volunteers will again go through the very difficult process of trying to raise funds for his journey... But as we can all see, this is his area of excellence, and we have no doubt in our minds that he will succeed in his goals of becoming a legend in his chosen sport...

Winning another gold medal at the upcoming world championships in early August 2018 in Bangkok is but another huge step towards one of his long term goals, which is to compete and win Gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

As well as even a dollar donation, we are open to any individual, organization or business that would see the many advantages of sponsoring Tokomaru in the short or long term.

We thank you in advance for reading and considering our request.

About us

The purpose of our trust is to educate and train kids and rangatahi (youth), and in particular, ‘at risk’ rangatahi, in job skills, work ethics, self-esteem and self-confidence, by using the natural environment and culture, to develop respect, appreciation and pride for their hapori (community) and our natural environment, while using outdoor activities as metaphors to explore and improve attitudes, and live out their God-given potential through the challenge of adventure.

Use of funds

To cover specialized camp training fees, uniforms, health supplements, travel, accommodation, food and other expenses within Thailand, we are seeking up to $4,000 so any small donation towards this amount would be much appreciated.
