Life Matters Street Appeal - 15 May 2026

Every suicide is a tragedy that affects families, and wider the community and has long-lasting impacts on the people left behind. According to WHO 2025, Suicide is one of the three leading causes of death among 15–29-year-olds. Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust | Te Whare Oranga Ngākau works across three areas of suicide response - prevention, intervention and postvention. We are a Dunedin based charity organisation.

All of our services are free.

We have a team of Peer Supporters who provide support directly to people | tāngata whaiora, as well as bereavement support groups and family/whānau support groups. We have extended our hours to allow crisis support where anyone in suicidal crisis can drop in and get support in a safe, non-clinical environment. A majority of the services provided by the Hope Centre are free as a result of continued and generous support of the community.

With our annual Street Appeal, we’re very excited to once again to be involved with our Ōtepoti | Dunedin community in our latest fundraising efforts. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference and we hope for your support.
