Paddle's deformed tail drags behind him to the point it has an open wound. We are asking for help to cover the cost of the surgery.

The tail of Paddlefoot.
We have fostered Paddlefoot from 5 weeks old. Our aim was/is to get him to a place where his ongoing care is manageable and then find an amazing forever home for him.
We knew this was going to be a long haul, and we continue to look at how we can help make Paddlefoot’s life more comfortable and manageable. He is now 26kg and still growing. He no longer is easy to pick up and carry around, so we are looking at what we can do to help him when he is not in wheelchair.
Our most pressing issue to solve is that fact that his deformed tail drags behind him to the point it has an open wound on it that we just can’t get healed up. He has no sensation in his tail so it does not cause him any discomfort but as you can imagine having an open wound in that area which he then drags through his own poo 4 or 5 times a day, is a much bigger problem just waiting to happen. The fact that it has not got infected to this point is a miracle.
So after consultation with vet we have made the decision to remove his tail. We don’t take lightly the decision to put Paddle through this surgery but feel it is the only way to resolve this ongoing issue for him. We have considered removing his lower back legs at the same time but feel at this stage we will remove the tail and move forward from there.
We are so thankful that our vets have been able to give us an amazing price for this surgery, saving us thousands.
This is a long haul for us, we believe Paddle deserves the best chance to live his life to the fullest, happily and healthy.
Paddlefoot also has his own bank account under the umbrella of Auckland Cavy Care Rescue, so your donations are tax deductible. 38-9014-0787909-02 Paddlefoot Para Pup
