Legend youth worker Eki from Fiji needs a kidney transplant.

We have fundraised to get him over to India for a transplant (which costs U$20,000), and have found half of the money needed for the operation. He is over there now at BLK hospital in Dehli. We need to raise the remaining US$10,000 (approx. NZ$14,000) before the end of November.

Eki has helped many young people in Fiji and from around the Pacific to turn their lives around, now it’s our turn to give back.

Praxis Pacific is a New Zealand based organisation, which supports the work of Ola Fou in the Pacific.

Ola Fou is a programme for training youth and community workers in six countries around the Pacific Islands. Eki started Ola Fou ten years ago and as a result of his work over 300 young leaders are now working in some of the most challenging situations and communities in their country.

Eki Update: 2 November 2016

Some progress at last

I’m very happy to report that the amputation on Eki’s lower leg is healing well and that a recent infection seems to be under control. Progress has been made on arrangements for the transplant operation, and this is currently scheduled for next week (November 10th)

We are making great progress on the Give-a-Little page and are now just $4,500 Short of our target to cover the cost of the kidney transplant operation.

There are going to be some extra costs on top of this, including cost of several years worth of anti-rejection medication, that we will need to help them purchase before they leave India. But like our friends we just have to take one day at a time, and support the family’s decisions the best we can.

Thank you so much for your generous support which has made the journey so far possible. We will see this through together.
