Help us build a home for a Tongan family by sponsoring a concrete block for just $2. 1000 concrete blocks are up for sponsorship!
Bay of Plenty
A team of New Zealanders are heading to the island of Eua in Tonga with Volunteer Build during July 2019 to build a home for a family that had their house destroyed during Cyclone Gita in February 2018. The family is currently living in a shack made of wood with a tarp roof. The team will work alongside the family and other local Tongan volunteers to build a 48 sqm concrete block home with a tin roof in just 5 days. In order to raise the last of the funds needed to purchase the materials for the build, we are looking for people to sponsor a concrete block. We use 1,000 concrete blocks in the house and the cost of the block, mortar and block fill needed for each block is approximately $2 per block. Donors can sponsor 1 block, 10 blocks, 100 blocks - or however many blocks you want to help us met our fundraising goal. Thanks for helping our team to help a Tongan family into a safe secure cyclone proof home.
The Trust was set up to provide relief of poverty, hunger and sickness by providing food, clothing & shelter to the poor. It also provides education and training to the public and schools about issues of world poverty and how to alleviate those issues.
Funds raised will be spent 100% on building materials for the house that the team are building. $9,000 has already been raised but we need another $2000. Any surplus will be used to help fund other Tonga Cyclone Gita rebuilds.
Thanks so much for sponsoring these blocks!
