ITS BACK! "Tauranga Firefighters Inter Station Relations" 2026

The Tauranga Firefighters are putting their fitness to the test to fundraise for their friends and colleagues. First responders and NZDF!

The "Tauranga Firefighters Inter Station Relations" is the culmination of 15 minutes of planning and countless beverage fueled conversations about how the Firefighters of Tauranga could strengthen their bonds with each other whilst also keeping fit and raising much needed funds for a brilliant charity that is close to their hearts, Te Kiwi Māia.

On 28 October 1886, the Statue of Liberty was officially dedicated in New York. When local resident Gerald Doncaster was asked what he thought of the large copper woman. He replied, “She’s an impressive French bird… but she ain’t no 43 km marathon.”

On Wednesday 28 October, a bunch of firefighters, first responders and a sprinkling of Defence Force personnel will once again attempt to prove Gerald was right as we take on the 2026 Interstation Relations Marathon.

Its not just to raise funds for the incredible humans doing fantastic things at Te Kiwi Māia, it also reminds us the hard things become possible with the help of others. Whether that’s running, walking, biking or tackling just part of the 43 km, nobody does it alone.

If you can spare a few dollars, we’d really appreciate it. Every donation helps, and every bit of encouragement gets us one step closer to the finish line.

Thanks so much for your support.

Big love Lady Liberty. ❤️
