Tommee & Tippee, a very special brother & sister who both need to have a leg amputated, due to a birth defect. Less is More
Auckland
Tommee & Tippee (T&T) came to Franklin Cat Rescue late last year as wild kittens. On their tip to toe health check, we were surprised when we got 4 legs BUT only 3 feet, both were missing the same foot?
Vet assessments found it very odd, but likely a birth defect & not trauma or abuse.
They have grown into happy, beautiful, super affectionate, playful kittens who do everything all their foster mates do, sometimes a little clumsy, but the biggest issue for them were the itches they couldn’t scratch.
They have grown, Tommee more than little Miss Tippee.
T&T’s legs are now troubling them. They use them more than we had hoped, meaning they are clumsier, fall awkwardly & are uncomfortable with the half leg. They use them & kick them behind them, then hop as it is annoying given the sensation having no pad, but all the nerves. They love cuddles & tummy rubs, but are missing play time as it’s not so much fun now.
Our vets have determined the best thing to prevent injuries to the legs themselves, possible infection (with no pad) or long term spine damage etc. we need to amputate the “funny’ leg.
We have no concerns about the operation itself or long term happiness & lifestyle of T&T, some say cats are born with an extra leg, given how well they adjust to having three & T&T more so as they have only known life with 3 & a bit!
The estimated costs are $1000. which are simply funds we don’t have available, given we currently have over 50 cats & kittens in our care.
If you could “Help Us ~ Help Them” please consider donating generously to give these incredible kittens their Happy Ever After & futures they deserve in forever homes.
*In the event we exceed our goal, 100% of any donations will go directly into the ongoing care of our other foster cats & kittens, such as vet ills, treatment, food etc.
Thank You

Next Big Step - Adoption! 16 July 2015
Thank You to each & every one of you for your donations & helping to give our very precious munchkins the happiest, healthiest & best futures possible.
T&T have had their surgery a few weeks ago (very tense days for their foster mum) but our incredible vet team, once again did what they do & T&T were up, about & being their wonderful little selves within no time.
They had a few oopise daisies when they were excited, chasing, playing & climbing but they take a moment & then off they would go again ? & then would jump up on our laps for snuggles & tummy tickles.
A few weeks have passed, their stitches out, scar nearly invisible, fuzzy hair starting to grow back & we & the vets are delighted with how they have adjusted & recovered.
Now the next big step (foster mum gulps) placing them up for Adoption & finding their very own special families to start of their happy Ever After xxx
