Christmas is a fun and festive time for most of us.

Nationwide

But for the thousands of New Zealand children affected by abuse, neglect and poverty it can be a time of stress, unhappiness and fear. Many of these children won’t have a Christmas meal to enjoy or a gift to open. They could also be the victims of violence and abuse.

But you can help.

Please support the Barnardos NZ Christmas Appeal and help ensure that a vulnerable child is safe and happy this Christmas. Money raised will help the children and families we work with over the holiday period, covering costs such as:

- Services to help keep children happy and safe at Christmas and beyond

- Christmas gifts for children at risk

- Food parcels for Christmas day

- A first time trip to the beach

About us

For 60 years, we’ve been part of communities throughout the motu. Today, our mahi across social services, early learning services contributes to Barnardos’ vision of ‘an Aotearoa where every child shines bright’.

We advocate to drive change at the systems-level, so that national laws, policies, practices, and institutions meet the needs of all children and tamariki, and respect, protect and uphold their rights.

We offer early learning services to all under-fives, to create strong foundations for children’s educational and life outcomes.

We provide social support services to children and whānau in our communities facing really tough times – including those who have experienced family violence, addiction, neglect and abuse, and those struggling with mental health issues.
