Help save the lives of mothers and newborn babies by funding a Maternal Waiting Home in South Sudan
Auckland
Hi my name is Destinee Macleod, Im a doctor from New Zealand living with my family here in South Sudan.
Over the past 2 years here my heart has been broken for the women here, who because of where they were born, endure so much suffering.
In particular it breaks my heart to hear of so many women dying from maternal health complications in the surrounding villages. Our dream is to give these women living in remote villages the opportunity to come to Tonj a few weeks before their delivery, to stay in a maternal waiting home. Then when they go into labour they are already onsite for a safe delivery with access to emergency care if anything goes wrong with mother or baby.
Maternal waiting homes have been used successfully in many low resource countries around the world with good success, and Kiwis for South Sudan would like to help us build one here in Tonj.
If you would like to be a part of this dream you can donate to the cause here on givealittle.
On behalf of all the women in South Sudan – Thank you so much for your generosity!!!
