Help us buy medicines for a medical program helping children and pregnant mothers in remote villages of South Sudan

Auckland

Hi there,

We’re Kiwi doctors helping to run in a Maternal & Child Health centre in South Sudan. Since we arrived in 2014 we’ve longed to reach out to the remote communities of our region who live without access to medical care. Can you believe that many of the children and pregnant women coming to our clinic have walked a full day or even several days, often in bare feet, in crazy temperatures, just to see a doctor! When we’ve ventured out to some of these remote villages we’ve found whole villages of children with swollen bellies, parasite infections, and all kinds of other sicknesses.

We’ve trialed a few outreach clinics over the last few months, and have been overwhelmed with the need. We’ve been setting up under a tree and seeing up to 200 patients a day, and the communities have been incredibly grateful

We’re really excited about New Zealanders being able help provide medical care to these villages. With the help of Kiwis for South Sudan this year we are starting a long term outreach program to 4 villages who have never had medical care before. We hope that each year we will be able to add more villages to the program, until all the rural villages in our region can be blessed with the right to medical care for their children!

One course of antibiotic costs just 50c, so every dollar helps. Since KFSS have no administrative costs every dollar goes to the cause. Thanks for your generosity in partnering with us to help the people of South Sudan!
