Helping vulnerable kiwi kids to have a better day and step up to a better life. We are their future. They are our future.
Northland
Do all children deserve to thrive?
Do all children deserve access to clean water, healthy food and medical care?
Do all children deserve to have adequate shelter, their own bed, and appropriate clothes?
Do all children deserve to dream, hope and smile?
We think 'YES' is the answer. And we believe that we must look after our own kiwi kids and our own people, first. So we support vulnerable kiwi kids in Northland, Aotearoa, NZ.
We've been helping kiwi kids and their whanau since 2012.
We PARTNER RESPECTED AGENCIES such as Police, Plunket, Women's Refuge, Educators, Iwi organisations, Social Workers and Health organisations because they know who is most in need, and we can support their ahi (work) but providing resources in emergency items (kai, furniture, clothing, bedding).
Our COMMUNITY jumps on board and donates most of the needed goods. We're the middle man passing it on to those partners- free.
Our ANNUAL PROJECTS include:
• Keep Our Kids Warm and Coats for Kids ( warm clothes and bedding)
• Christmas Toy Drive ( gifts for taitamariki-children and young people- from birth to 18yrs)
• Christmas Kai Boxes ( food parcels including hygiene, fresh veggies and meat)
Our ONGOING PROJECTS/PROGRAMMES include:
• Angel Bears (little teddies that go in Police cars, Ambulances and Fire trucks, hospitals and trauma packs for kids in trauma)
• Angel Treats (memory making moments for whanau registered with Hospice Mid North)
• KiwiMANA Kaiārahi (mentoring and Life Skills programmes for youth-we believe that this is the way to a better future and arresting the cycle of hopelessness, poverty and disconnect )
• Angel Emergency Response( our partners can request support for whanau they’ve idenitifed as needing kai, clothes, bedding, furniture)
FUNDING:
We do fundraisers every year and rely on the generosity and care of our community sponsors. We have organised fabulous events with our amazing community and even have a Guinness World Record for head shaving 462 people in one hour! We don't do things by halves, man!
We are super charged Angels who believe that stuff just needs to get done - and we're are all volunteers.
We apply for funding to cover admin and running costs so that all our public fundraising goes directly towards supporting our most vulnerable children.
We polish each other’s halos occasionally, and sometimes we smooth ruffled angel feathers because it can become overwhelming and we can feel swamped under the tide of poverty and hopelessness. But we know one child lifted up can impact a whole whanau, and a whanau given hope can impact the next generation. That's making a difference!
VALUES:
We will value and respect all people, guided by Te Whare Tapa principles of wellness. The Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Social health of our tamariki & rangatahi will be our primary focus.
We will lead by example.
MISSION:
“Creating positive change for our tamariki and rangatahi by leading and facilitating community collaboration.” (Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga principles)
All children deserve to thrive. Together we can make a difference.
So if you can help us, we'd really appreciate your help!
'Bald Angels Charitable Trust' believes all children deserve to thrive & we focus on the most vulnerable. We engage the community in whanaungatanga values: providing emergency essentials, trauma Angel Bears, youth mentoring & whānau support.
Christmas for little angels 24 November 2025
NORMAL should not be ’survival’ but it is for so many kiwi kids.
The wish lists make us sad. When a teen asks for shampoo. Or a grandparent raising several moko (Grandchildren) asks for back packs and stationery for Christmas; when an 11 year old boy asks for a white singlet and any colour shorts please.
Let’s bring some JOY to vulnerable kids across Tai Tokerau-Northland.
Our annual Angels Christmas helps bring joy to over 1200 taitamariki ( children & youth). It’s way more than a gift or kai. Sharing the fun of Christmas and a happy family gathering should be every child’s right. We can’t fix the real problems, but if we can relieve some stress and empower a family to share fun together, that could prevent all sorts of problems. Anecdotally, Police have told us it potentially reduces crime and harm.
Our Partner agencies identify the most deserving and needy whānau, and they deliver to them, wrapping additional care around them and offering support. This is NOT just a hand out. It is so much more. Plunket recounted the story of finally getting access to a home, and being able to assess the needs of both children and adults. They loved seeing a 7 year old unwrap a gift then pick up a toddler to read to them.
‘Normal’ should not be no running water and no electricity, no fuel and no shower- but for many it is.
Anything you can give will help us make a difference.
