Help these beginners in the sport of Blind Cricket on their pathway to taking on 4 Aussie States (Victoria, NSW, Queensland and SA).
Nationwide
We're looking to grow the sport of Blind Cricket from the grass roots up - in order to do that, we are offering new players the opportunity to tour 4 of the Australian State sides where they will get he opportunity to play each State in 3 T20 matches!
All of the players that come in to this team have 3 years or less experience (with the exception of a couple of players who have been asked to tour for Leadership ability and to help guide the team on the field. In reality, MOST of the players have been playing the game for less than 9 months!
All of these players have huge potential to go far in the sports of Blind Cricket - some even to BLINDCAPS (NZ's own International Blind Cricket team) level. This is the beginning of their pathway journey to representing their country at elite international level. For many, that was just a dream until they were offered this opportunity.
They need your help to achieve their goal - funding is hard to obtain... but the donated dollar is always appreciated.
We are the governing body of Blind Cricket in New Zealand.
We oversee the day to day running of blind cricket across the country as well as being NZ's representative body to the World Blind Cricket Limited who have an affiliation of 10 countries.
Your donations will be used in a variety of ways including;
Travel and accommodation for training camps. International and domestic airfares for the tour, accommodation for the tour, uniforms and kit/equipment for the players.
ANNOUNCING THE 2018 NZ A CAPTAINCY TEAM 17 July 2018
With the announcement of the NZ A team it was also advised that at the conclusion of the most recent training camp we would make decision on the NZ A Blind Cricket Captain and Vice Captain.
After some discussion it was felt that it would be more appropriate to appoint a Captaincy Team.
The Captaincy Team is made up of 3 players who will share the roles of Captain and Vice Captain with at least 2 of the 3 Captaincy Team members named in the starting side of each game. The Captain and Vice will be appointed each game as required.
With this in mind, we are please to advise that Matt Carter, Deacan Dunn and Marquele McCaskill have been appointed to the NZ A Blind Cricket Captaincy Team.
Congratulations to these three players who have a range of skill, knowledge and experience between them.
