Kai Boxes & Christmas hope for vulnerable kids in the Far North

Help bring joy to vulnerable kiwi kids this Christmas

Northland

The ‘ho, ho, ho” of Christmas does not happen for many of our most vulnerable and impoverished Kiwi kids. Just getting a decent meal won’t happen, let alone the thrill of a Christmas gift. For many Christmas is just super stressful. There are so many added expenses, and if things are going wrong, tensions build and wellbeing becomes an even greater risk for our little ones.

Our generous community donates over 1600 gifts every year in the spirit of manaakitanga... but we need help with funding the Kai boxes (food parcels) please.

The last couple of Christmases we’ve been able to supply Kai Boxes to 400 whānau - that’s been between 1200-1300 tamariki (children). This year, from our Partner re-registrations the need has doubled. Yes, doubled!

We are often asked, “How do you pick the families?”

The answer is, “We don’t. Our Partner agencies identify the families most in need.” Our Partners include: Police, Womens Refuge, Plunket, Hospice, iwi social services, health and education providers. This is important. They are qualified and resourced to provide additional wraparound support as needed. By working together, we can all do so much more.

Yep…we’re feeling so anxious about our ability to support the need this year. We are also very aware that it’s hard for many of our usual supporters as the cost of living hits us all. So, only if you’re able, we’d be so grateful for your support.

THANK YOU TVNZ Breakfast and all of you!  10 November 2023

It's not ok when kids ask for hair shampoo and conditioner for Christmas. It's not ok when grandparents are raising moko and ask for school stationery for Christmas. It's not ok when families are living in sheds with no electricity or running water in Aotearoa.

But this is real.

And YOUR support makes a real difference.

Not only will these families receive a huge Kai Box and gifts for the tamariki, but they'll be delivered by people who care-from Iwi Social Services, Police, Plunket, Hospice etc....so additional care and support is wrapped around the the whānau. That's part of the magic of how we roll here at Bald Angels. We don't just give out- we wrap around. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! And it ALL goes directly to tamariki in need- that's a promise.

If you'd like to see the interview with our Angel Mama and Matty go to BREAKFAST Facebook page 10 November 2023 (or On Demand) https://www.facebook.com/Breakfaston1
