Louie, once a happy rescue pup, is now seriously unwell. Help us support his family with urgent and ongoing vet costs.
Auckland
Louie wasn’t just another puppy. He was a tiny, unexpected life born in our care on 5 March 2022 to Olive, safe from his very first breath. We watched him grow, and when he was adopted by Shanade, we knew he had found everything a dog deserves. He was deeply loved and truly living his best life.
Then everything changed.
Louie recently developed a limp. What first seemed minor quickly became something far more serious. After multiple vet visits, tests, and a specialist assessment, it’s clear this isn’t simple. He’s lost weight, he isn’t himself, and now there are fears it could be something more complex, with autoimmune disease mentioned. It’s an incredibly scary and uncertain time.
Right now, Louie is at ARC Vets undergoing further testing as his family searches for answers.
Shanade hasn’t asked for help. She’s been doing everything she can for the boy she loves. But the costs are rising fast, and it’s becoming overwhelming.
We’ve always said dogs in our care are family for life. Louie is no exception.
If you can help, even with $1, it will go directly to Shanade to support Louie’ care and ongoing treatment.
He needs us right now.
We rehabilitate and rehome any dogs relinquished into our care, along with working closely with many Council Animal Shelters and SPCA across New Zealand.
We believe in helping ANY dog we can, no matter the size, breed or situation.
This money will go directly to the vet to cover any costs associated with diagnosis and care of Louie
29 April Update 29 April 2026
Our darling Louie has an autoimmune disorder and is now at home with some medications in the hope these will help him.
At the moment there are guarantees, but he is with the people who love him most in the world, so they can spend time with Louie while next steps are considered.
Shanades ARC bill is now sitting at just over $8,000 so every dollar counts to help her!
