In 2016 YMCA Early Learning Centre Manurewa embarked on a journey to engage parents & children in a consultation process around risky play.

We had no idea how successful the process would be; in parent participation in discussions, getting everyone actively involved in developing our outdoor space and participating in our regular bush walks.

So imagine our surprise when we were actually invited to be one of the speakers on the world stage at the Children & Nature Network Conference to be held from 18-21 April in Vancouver.

It is a great honour for YMCA ELC Manurewa to share best practice with their peers. Being selected to present is confirmation for those parents that their voice is indeed valuable and worth sharing and of the standard which we are committed to achieving across all of the services we provide.

The Children & Nature Network and its founders are synonymous with awards and recognition for their research, leadership, journalism, educational program development and entrepreneurship in the field of creating lasting nature connections for everyone.
