A dog with gunshot wounds requires surgery and Kawerau SPCA is inviting donations to help pay for the operation.
Bay of Plenty
A dog has been found with gunshot wounds. One shot was to the chest - the bullet exited behind the shoulder, and another shot was in the mouth, and has affected its jaw and teeth. Shrapnel from the shot is still present in the jaw, and three of the teeth have been fractured. A small section of the jaw is missing. The cost for surgery will be about $2500. We know this is a massive ask but we believe the dog's life is worth it.
The dog is approximately 8 months old, is a male with a beautiful nature, is not registered or microchipped, and was found outside of the Kawerau area. Because of limited resources, Kawerau SPCA is unable to help in every case where an animal needs surgery but we feel that this is a special case. Consequently we are inviting donations from the public to help fund the operation. We would love to see this dog get a second chance. The person who found the dog has named him Tui.
If anyone has any information about who caused the gunshot wounds, please contact Kawerau SPCA in confidence.
"We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves."
The Kawerau SPCA - Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - is a non profit organisation that encourages the humane treatment of animals, and rehomes/cares for abandoned and abused animals, relying solely on donations/sponsorship and volunteers.
The funds will be used to pay for Tui's surgery.
