Set up a second brand new Animal Sanctuary, to rescue a lot more animals!
Nationwide
GOAL: To establish a second NEW animal sanctuary, enabling us to rescue more animals.
The Animal Sanctuary Charitable Trust was made aware of a large group of previously rescued “farm animals” that must be removed from their current location. They are too many to rehome, and it’s almost impossible to find safe homes these days for cows, pigs and sheep. This has prompted us to pursue our dream of setting up a second animal sanctuary, so we can continue and extend our rescue work. 100% of funds raised will go directly toward establishing this new sanctuary, including building barns, shelters & containment yards; getting electricity and/or solar onto the property (for electric fences & water pumps); installing water troughs; fencing large sections into paddocks for grazing; transport of rescued animals to new property, etc etc. They say “It takes a village”, and we know that we need the support of our animal loving community to make this all happen. As we are a charitable trust, all NZ donors are eligible to receive a tax claimable receipt for 33% of your donations. Setting up a whole new animal sanctuary is a massive task, and we appreciate every bit of support you might be able to offer! Thank you so much.
We provide a refuge for abandoned and abused animals, and either provide a permanent home or rehome. We raise orphaned native birds & rehabilitate injured native birds: We rescue battery hens, nurse them back to health and find lifelong caring homes.
Funds will go toward barns, shelters, fencing, water system, transport of rescued animals, ,etc
NEW SANCTUARY UPDATE 13 September 2025
Goodness! I've just realised that we've published heaps of updates via Facebook, but none here with you. My apologies.
So, we purchased 63 hectares in April. It's a stunning but very remote property. Part pasture for the animals, and part native bush for the birds. Beautiful, but bare land. We immediately started setting up all the infrastructure: roading, fencing, water lines, troughs, electric fences, gates, hay storage, etc etc. We took a loan for the property purchase, so your donations go 100% for all the projects to make the sanctuary safe for animals. It's overwhelming, but we focus on one project at a time. Almost immediately, the animals started coming!! We currently have 20 rescued cows, 3 pigs, 6 sheep, groups of hens and ducks. They know they're safe now, and it touches our hearts to see them settle in and build confidence. We still have a looong way to go, and it's incredibly hard work, but when we see the animals happy and relaxed, it's all worth it. Our next project will be the hospital yard and barn... Thank you to everyone who helped us get this far!
The photo is of Aroha, playing hide and seek. :-)
We appreciate you, as always.
Thanks again, Shireen.
Thanks for being an amazing supporter of the new sanctuary!
Shireen, your monthly donation is so very much appreciate. We're grateful for your support. LOL, the new sanctuary is like a sinkhole for money. There's so much we need to do! So your monthly contribution is ALWAYS put to good use.
Thanks so much, Shireen. The second sanctuary (Sanctuary Under The Stars) has sooo many set up projects going on, and your support is very much appreciated.
