Veronica’s Story

Veronica led a typical happy teenage life. However, on February 24, 2022, their lives changed dramatically. Veronica's father, Olexander, defended Chernihiv heroically and, after repelling invaders from Chernihiv, their unit headed to the East of the country. On April 21, 2022, tragedy struck - their heroical Dad fell in battle near Volnovakha. Olexander was awarded a posthumous Order of Courage (3rd degree).

Veronica and her younger brother Tymur struggled with the loss of their father, undergoing challenging rehabilitation. Yet, the family is gradually trying to return to normal life.

Veronica is School Year 8, aspiring to a career in international relations. She completed the school of arts, loves Ukrainian history and English. She also has a hobby - reciting poems, participating in acting competitions and festivals, and enjoys various handmade activities.

Due to your generosity in the course of our initial fundraising https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/hamilton-for-children-of-ukraine, enough money was allocated – and is being paid in quarterly instalments - to support the child up to November 2024. The Hamilton City Council Koha amounts to 1/3 of the allocated funding.

This fundraising is to ensure the support during the next 12 months in 2024-2025 years.

To pay the bills, the funds will be passed to charity Children of Heroes in Ukraine whom we are working closely with.

All money you donate, less 6.3% of third parties' fees, are spent to support the child.
