Vika’s Story

Vika is the only beloved daughter of the fallen Hero of Ukraine, Serhiy. Before the full-scale invasion, her father worked at a furniture factory, dedicating all his free time to his beloved wife and child. After the start of the full-scale war of Moscow against Ukraine in 2022, he joined the ranks of the defenders of the Motherland. With his mates, he bravely fought for Ukraine's independence on the Kharkiv front and near Bakhmut.

On February 11, 2023, while carrying out a routine combat mission in Donetsk Oblast, Serhiy sustained severe injuries incompatible with life. Despite the doctors' efforts to save him, on February 14, 2023, on Valentine's Day, his heart stopped beating.

Despite the profound shock, Vika's family strives to overcome. In School Year 3, she's passionate about humanities, attends English classes, loves drawing, dances, and dreams of Ukraine's triumph.

Due to your generosity in the course of our initial fundraising https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/hamilton-for-children-of-ukraine, enough money was allocated – and is being paid in quarterly instalments - to support the child up to November 2024. The Hamilton City Council Koha amounts to 1/3 of the allocated funding.

This fundraising is to ensure the support during the next 12 months in 2024-2025.

To pay the bills, the funds will be passed to charity Children of Heroes in Ukraine whom we are working closely with.

All money you donate, less 6.3% of third parties' fees, are spent to support the child.
